South Carolina: Governor and Lieutenant Governor

2026 General Election · November 3, 2026

The governor is South Carolina's chief executive: signs or vetoes bills, can veto individual items in the state budget, and appoints many state officials. Candidates for governor and lieutenant governor run together on one ticket, so one vote elects both. The lieutenant governor is first in line to succeed the governor. It is a 4-year term.

This race is on every South Carolina ballot.
