About Voting On

What are we voting on? What have they voted on? What did we vote on?

Voting On is a nonpartisan guide to elections, candidates, issues and political history. We do not endorse candidates or parties, and we do not tell anyone how to vote.

Methodology

Every candidate we list comes from an official record, such as the Texas Secretary of State's ballot certification.
A candidate's position on an issue is published only when it is documented in their own statements, votes or official actions, with a link to the source.
We never infer a position from party. “No documented position” and “unclear or conflicting” are valid results.
When two official sources disagree, we flag it for review instead of choosing one.
Every candidate and race is treated with the same format and the same standard of evidence.

Sources

We rank sources by how close they are to the original record: official government records first, then the candidate's own words and video, then reporting from established news organizations. Sources are re-checked on a regular schedule, and anything not re-verified is flagged for review.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it and note the change. A public error-report form is coming soon.
